When I look in your eyes,
I see a high performance brain behind.
I see the ashes of defeat
Hiding the embers of victory.
They show to me the battles you fought,
Which left a deep and lasting impact
Instrumental in tracing out a route
To shape your creative persona.
I see a treasure trove of memories,
Sweet as well as sour, a great reunion
Of the flavors life has to offer,
Sometimes handsome
And at other times cumbersome.
I see your beautiful dreams,
wondrous sight indeed, stupendous,
Your nonchalance, your fleeting passions
Which no bulldozing will flatten.
I see love in your eyes,
The pain of too much tenderness
Flickering like a candle in the wind.
It takes my breath away.
While you look forlornly at me,
I see sadness profound
You hold my hand
And say in a soft voice Gibran’s words,
‘For even as love crowns you,
So shall he crucify you.’
