( By Jan Phillips )
There was a time when I was young and wild
Even though I was already God’s child.
I was lost in the world of sin
God kept knocking, but I wouldn’t let him in.
I thought I had plenty of time to redeem myself
So I just put God upon a shelf.
I went upon my merry way
Sinning constantly every day.
I thought I was having lots of fun
But really I was having none.
I really wanted to live it up
So I drank from every cup.
There was nothing I didn’t try
But God I did deny!
He still loved me even then
He wanted me back in his arms again.
When I was close to a suicide death,
He made me catch my breath.
Now I am His for good or bad;
“Lord, I sure am glad.”
