I wrote verses for you, my dear,
Verses gathered from love and tears
On a corner of a half- charred page
Within my dust laden soul..
Sun came and went, so did the wind
Rain was tending to eat them away
But I couldn’t find solitude , to sweep them together
I could never see an unwrinkled white page
To jot down before they could fade..
I couldn’t find a hut in the middle of a meadow
On the bank of a silent stream..
I could not find a quiet corner
In the middle of this hustling city
To unload the stinking bundle of hopes.
I could not find even a corner
Where I could shut my eyes and ears
To fight with the creeping hands of the past…
And so I fell, I fell into a deep sleep
Burning the remaining corners with rage
Before they could smother me mercilessly
And I lost them, as I lost you once..
” Verses for you ” ,is an impassioned cri-de-coeur from deep within a true poet’s heart.
