The urban romantic

The urban romantic
On the morning of
Hot and humid August,
In a cramped flat in a mid-rise
In the restive
Suburban Mumbai,
A man bedraggled,
Woken up by the
Yelping dogs on the
Street below,
Bends down and
Plants a hot kiss,
—His breath stale and
Carrying hints of tobacco—
On the soft and cold
Belly button of
The fair-complexioned woman
Stretched out in bed,
And still asleep,
Mouth slightly open,
Teeth yellow and crooked;
The moist kiss deep
On a shivering skin,
Sending shivers,
Like waves,
On the exposed
For the colour-conscious,
And the sleepy figure,
Now stirring,
And, gently
Breaking into a tender smile,
Oh! So erotic!
