Those who have survived the tests of time
Know about the tender touch of words,
The power of a song, a sad one that can
Catapult you to sky rocketing heights.
Joyful songs peppered with nuances of wit
Spinning into spirals of words, vibrant
May create fun and frolic.
Some people feel the rain,
Others just get wet.
Similarly some people’s mind clamor
Is stilled by joyful songs
Without its touching the heart.
When the storm of life is raging
And the scars of the wounded moon
Are crying to be felt, to be touched,
When emotions encased in a cocoon
Feel like bursting to look for freedom,
When life reaches an irreversible
And unmanageable stage,
When absolute silence reigns,
The soul yearns for a song sad.
A song that talks about the
Neglected, the marginal, the homeless,
A song that explains incomprehensible sadness,
A song that speaks about turbulent
And distressing times ahead
Of cataclysmic proportion,
A song that describes the pains
Of a mother who has no food
To offer to her hungry children,
A song about suffering, death and strife
And a song sung for lovers who never met
As the world was opposed to their love.
Joyful songs may touch the heart
And yet, sad songs move the soul.
The sadder a song, the more ripples it creates
To apprehend the elusive reality that life is.
There is so much peaceful happiness
In songs sad.
Sing my friend one more time
A song sad
To create joys in my heart
And spread around my positive energy
Among those lost in the maze of life.

So very true! As Shelley affirmed: ”Our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thought,” A pleasure to read!
