The power of pain

I have seen many walking in noble strides

After having travelled in the long alleys

And valleys of pain, suffering and endurance.

They have suffered from diseases, curable

And incurable where death lurked patiently

At the threshold of their doors,

Visitors few and friends fewer.

However, they have faith in that inner strength

Which has healing powers, unimaginative,

And they dive deep in the crevices

Of the inner self, encounter the light within

And get healed.

Since then, life has a different meaning.

The fragile experience opened their eyes

To a new way of thinking and living.

All feelings of barbaric arbitrariness,

Surges of anger, pride, envy and cruelty

Evaporate like water, creating wider horizons

Of love, understanding, compassion and affection.

They stop living for themselves and start

Living for others championing

Humanitarian ideals and freedom of thought.

They grow the ability of affecting

All those around them positively.

They start living a life they love,

Worrying about nothing

Because they know that

Everything will be all right.

A reflective and philosophic poem with the inspiring core concept of seeking strength within oneself to heal one’s own pain .
