The child’s voice

I strolled in lanes lonely,

The curling clouds above,

Below, the bees busy kissing the flowers,

When suddenly, I heard a child’s voice

Talking in compassion incarnate.

‘God, you are the Lord of mercy,

That’s what my grandma said

Since the time she rocked me in the cradle.

God of Mercy, have mercy on us.

I know we all have sinned,

I can see it and my Papa feels it.

He feels we will have disaster ahead.

I know you are full of compassion,

Like a pitcher full of water.

I know you are full of love,

Like the ocean, like the mountains

And like mothers who feed their infants.

God, please bury all the weapons

So that man will not kill man.

Take away Corona as many are dying.

Help Mother Nature as she is suffering.

I went near the child and held him

Close to my heart, my arms around him

And together we prayed for a better world.
