The answers of life

By the lake, by the sea, by the spring,

My breakdown turns into a breakthrough,

I forget the jungle of lies and deceit.

It is a defining moment for me

And I feel I am looking for something.

By the hill, on the mountain, in great fields fallow,

All pent up feelings empty out.

I forget all and feel like a snowflake

Dancing in the cool breeze while

Tiny drops of tears touch the grass.

I start looking for that thing again.

By the corn fields where flowers grow wild,

Birds chirp joyously and sheep graze quietly,

The shepherd looks at the setting sun

While his dog is resting before starting

The long journey that will take him back home.

I feel I am as happy and contemplative

As the shepherd and his dog, always ready to serve.

Again, I start looking for that thing.

I sit down, like Buddha, and start journeying

Within my inner self and the quest starts.

I think of life and its travails, of men and women

Leading their weary way in narrow corridors.

I think of the shastras, mantras, tantras and yantras

And slowly, like a lotus plant opening its petals,

My mind blends with my soul and I get

The long awaited answers of my search.

I smile and say to myself,

We are such a beautiful universe

And deep within us are found

All the answers of life.

A contemplative poem floating like a thought – lotus on the stream of the consciousness of the poet. It contains both the quest- question and the goal – answer within itself .
