The 13th Day –

(Elegy for a Valkyrie)
The day when I sought vengeance
My Pain suckled, on the breast of Hate;
The past became an enemy,
My hidden scars, could not escape.
Time has helped those deamons pass,
From the evil of that thing;
Now I never cry when angels die –
I have no need, for their wings.
(A passing of shadows)
There was a time, they gave me comfort,
But also blindfolded both my eyes;
Blocked my ears –
And stopped my voice, from questioning the lies;
Still, my action held no honour,
Merely adding to the pain,
The sword I held was double-edged;
The passing shadows, stained with shame.

    The world of Odin and his Valkyries returns to the pages of Destiny Poets through another fine poem by Fingleton.The significance of 13th in Norse Mythology is well- known. I wonder if it’s Loki’s voice we are hearing…

      Thank you for you detailed and informed comment Vijay…..Loki and I have never been the best of friends…..but this time it my own sins are on trial…..the 13th is just a cultural coincidence.
