Amongst the thousands staring
and no-one caring ,
We too stared and stood
next to the Woman alone and weeping
as her hopes were seeping
away into the sinking Sun ;
The crowds had been shouting
with each cheer doubting
the innocence of that Woman’s son ;
We too stood and watched
a woman alone and weeping
as her hopes were seeping ,
and heard in the crowd something odd
perhaps the son of that Woman
was truly the Son of God ;
Amongst the thousands staring
and no-one caring ,
We too stared and stood..
The suffering of Virgin Mary,as Jesus’s mother, during the Crucifixion and it’s impact on the crowd is depicted .The complicity of humanity is revealed in the lines: ”We too stared and stood’.”
Pains of a mother is well depicted. Very touching and heartfelt. Thanks for sharing. Regards.
We too stood and stared – very poignantly depicted .
Awesome poem depicting the pains of a the divine mother Mary…very touching
So emotive. Beautifully described
The birth of Prophet Jesus (PBUH) is worth reading. I read Chapter Maryam (Mary) in the holy Quran, several times in a year. This is my personal favorite. The ordeals of pious mother Maryam (PBUH) is heart wrenching. It’s a touchy account. You have revived it painstakingly.
Superb poem! Well done!
Universal symbol of maternal love painted with deftly with apt words.
Poignant indeed.
Evoking the need to have faith in the manifestations of God
