I rushed out of my house
lost in million thoughts
jumped in to a taxi
it wasn’t far when I realised, what?
I had left my lifeline behind
knee jerk response was to rewind
to rush back and pickup my master
yes, I call it My Master…and not a cellphone
It is my master and I am it’s slave
to break the bonds I need to be brave
my impulse to return, surprisingly waned
even before it arose, and I wasn’t pained…..
and Lo! I was alone now!
I was elated, I was happy
I was joyful, liberated and free
I had walked up to my flame tree…..
and no one, absolutely no one
could now track me!
no one, absolutely no one
could now locate me!
I was free, it was my time and me…..
my moments were truly mine
and I was absolutely fine,
this gave me a taste of the past
when life would happen without any cost….
when for years since I was born
after office hours, people were gone
landlines would ring and letters were sent
nibs were broken and ink was spent….
men would actually go to greet
on festivals and occasions everyone would meet
and now it is indeed a very big feat,
to fit in the present times
we have cruelly crushed
our freedom and our Me Time…..
that one small monster
sticking to our palm
but all out to damn
draining our peace and freedom
with every ring and notification,
constantly glued to the outside world
peeping in to others life
else busy showing off yours!
where there are RIPs and no tears
loads of congratulations from peers
but a tinge of envy burning coffers
but today I was free of all these fears……
I had left behind
the draining, ringing, sinister monster…..

Fantastic ! A hard-hitting poem on the overtaking of actual reality by virtual reality and the poet’s dream of returning to the pre- cellphone way of life .
Thank you Amita madam for your words of appreciation
