Powder burns with explosive speed
pressure dispatches the bullet at
over one thousand feet per second
from its brass cartridge ;
Its soft lead shaped by grooves
in the barrel makes the bullet rotate
stabilising its flight through the air ;
Lead penetrates the skull
and passes through destroying
the motor cortex paralysing all movement
as it pierces the parietal lobe
smashing the function in the front and
right lobes hitting the inside of the cranium ;
the reduced speed and angle makes
the bullet ricochet hitting other parts
of the skull at slower and slower rates
finally coming to a halt ;
by then the heart has already
stopped beating.
Powerful and poignant. I liked the ending
All in one breathe…. that is what I felt after reading it….
Fierce as always …like all your poems Sir. I loved this one too for its powerful expression.
