Savouring the Golden Moments

Savouring the moments golden,

Currently appreciating moments often,

Is the only thing in our grasp, precious,

What counts most for our existence momentous.

It’s now or never

To gift myself moments jubilant, more than ever,

Before old age seeps in debilitatingly,

Sucks me of my energy slowly but surely.

Let me bask in thousands of memories elevating,

Say, viewing the sunrise on the Himalayas dazzling,

Utterly mesmerizing,

The surreal moment of a lifetime, retrospecting!

Or think of my sweet, loving friend,

Whose care opportunely extended,

When down with fever, going to great length,

To restore my physical strength.

Or when I realised my dream to become a writer finally,

And my books were published by the Ministry,

A moment etched in my mind permanently,

A blessing bestowed so mercifully!

Oh yes, let me be full of gratitude,

To the creator who crowns me with plenitude.

Fills me with love and consideration,

And profuse with compassion.

Fortunate is the poet who can look back on a fruitful life and justly take pride in hard- earned achievements . The satisfaction of having contributed to the greater gooo of mankind through one’s efforts brings much deeper satisfaction than other achievements but the joy of being at one with Nature or the beauty of a warm friendship are also to be celebrated .
