Men and women with charisma and personality
Have not always sailed in smooth seas.
They may be medical practitioners, researchers,
Food growers, animal lovers or poets,
All their efforts are geared to perfection and success.
Their journey would not have gained momentum
If they knew not how to find a way out
Of the narrow corridors of their thoughts.
Sometimes placid like the acacia,
At other times tranquil like the oak,
They faced the seismic contours of life,
Always focused on the ideals to be achieved,
Like ‘The old man and the sea’ of Ernest Hemingway,
The fish has to be brought ashore by all means.
So many people want to hurt them
And so few willing to heal them,
Yet, wisely, they choose their healers
And the ones they are prepared to suffer
For they know the difference between
The hooting of the owl
And the songs sweet of the nightingale.
With extraordinary zeal and purpose,
They prepare grounds for a better world,
Not richer, but safer,
Not the glittering gold
But the goodness of human nature,
Where cultures are interlaced majestically.
It is the rough sailing in the rough seas
That worked on their thoughts, their actions
And reactions to the changing hues of life,
The absurdity of society’s cliches
With uncompromising clear sightedness,
Exerting a far reaching influence
On the people of their times.
