The U.S.A is burning,

China is flooding,

Oceans’ temperature rising,

Mountain caps melting,

Mother Earth is ailing

And humanity is sinking.

Truth may be stranger than fiction.

The truth is that man’s greed knows no restriction,

His wants and his needs are in multiplication

And his carbon emitting activities know no cessation.

Fro sublime, we are going to the ridiculous

And our attitude towards Mother Earth is barbarous.

Instead of serendipitous, we are growing monstrous,

In our thoughts, actions and reactions treacherous.

With insatiable desire to excel,

We embarked in a race like hell

And now that the ringing of the bell

Is clearly heard by by the foolish and the intellectual,

Will we listen to the words our conscience tell?

We know we are shivering in shame,

And yet, who is to be blamed?

It is never too late to rearrange our tale

So that our faces will no longer be pale.

A well- composed ,timely poem that warns us of the consequencies of our callousness towards the environment.

  2. Brindha Vinodh

A poem that addresses environmental issues encompassing us and the harsh reality of man being cruel
    towards Nature.
Love especially the lines “Truth maybe stranger than fiction.”
A timely reminder that ends on a positive tone.
