They come salivating, the rabid dogs,
They bark at the sight of green oases and blue lakes,
They tell its the sight, the color, the water that tempts them.
They tell its not the surging viral levels in their thoughts,
They romp and stomp, thumping chest of their urges,
But then sometimes, A rabid dog has to be put down.
Before it scampers across biting all, poisoning minds,
Once in a while some examples have to be made of,
Such infecting scourge, To keep the landscapes pristine.
One generation more, One at a time they have to be dealt with,
In their homes. and in the wild streets, One at a time the nights,
have to be swept clean. Till its safe for rivers to flow,
streams to giggle. Have the colours and contours they choose.
For the rabid dogs may salivate, bark and hallucinate,
But then mountain springs and waterfalls must cascade,
Sometimes vaccines may work, sometimes antidotes,
But if they are on loose, biting a crowd, put them down.
One at a time, show them the mirrors and gnarling faces,
Show them the horror, that makes even a rottweiler squeam,
To choose not to be rabid fools but brave guardians of soothing shores.

Footnote:-
I wrote this poem keeping in mind the scourge of “Rape, Sexual Harassment and Eve Teasing” that women are facing all around the world but the level of its ‘rabidity’ seems to touch skies in our country, so for our Daughters, Mothers and even Grandmothers..let us hope to deal it one at a time in our homes and streets!
Powerful poem penned with strong feelings.

Thank you Louis…. it means a lot that you felt the poems angst…appreciated… 🙂
Every word written reflects the anguish, disturbed and deeply hurt self every lady in living in so insecure society as ours feels. Dear, this is just another piece of wonderful thoughts flowing out from your blessed mind, and no surprise! !! But what makes it special is that you have penned for all of us… and the words are strong enough.
Rubi…I am touched that you felt the same …my words intended to…
Good work….keep it up…
Thankyou…
The words are strong enough to reflect the feelings of womankind. It is a lash at the face of the society where even our mothers are not safe.
Thankyou 🙂
