Pray, did you open your chest
And let the skies’ will in its depth?
If you did not,
Bear in mind that someday,
The seas of regret shall wake up in you
And you shall only be able to let yourself drown
Without even being able to reach out to help’s hand!
Pray, shall you ever open your chest
And let the skies’ will in its depth?
I have done so, knees bent,
Ego swallowed and the outlook positive,
I have done so,
For I have seen the truth of life
I have done so,
For now, other than obeying the skies
I have no other aspirations for my being!
Why, I wait for when you shall open your chest
And let the skies will immerse its depth
To such an extent
That, like me, you shall care to live your due
As dutifully as you can
Till you shall hoist me up the ladder
That the skies shall throw at us!
Yes, we belong not to this world
Here, we are like shadows, inexistent
Here, we are like clouds, so subtle
Here, we are like air, uncatchable!
Why, I shall wait, for when you shall open your chest
To let the skies’ will in its depth
Your heart, I am sure, remains as thirsty as mine
To be saved, through love meant to last across eternity!
An insightful and evocative work and a fine exemplar of this author’s inimitable poetic acumen.
A multi-layered, beautifully composed poem.
