If your beloved, your love did not requite,
Realise your own worth by yourself and call it quit
Surely, to love yourself you were being taught,
So, starting to give yourself more you ought.
.
Indeed! Why worry about love from outside?
Light your own torch from deep inside,
Make it shine bright,
To illuminate your life in direction right.
.
Realise you are your own best friend,
For you will be permanently with you till your end,
So, just forgive, have faith and be highly inspired,
Before your valuable time on earth will be expired.

A sensible and pertinent perspective on self-reliance and self-motivation in our search for happiness.
Am so glad with your kind appreciation of my poem dear poet VijayNair. Thanks so much!
An interesting viewpoint and all too tempting but looking outward and learning to interact and empathise with other beings in the universe especially fellow human beings is also of utmost importance .
I respect your views dear poet. Certainly it is very important to empathise with other beings… once you can ‘ light your own torch’ and becoming strong and capable, then, you can illumine the world… that was my point… thank you so much!
App Deepo Bhav : Be your own lamp : is the well known philosophy of the Buddha . A balance between subjectivity and objectivity is required , in the spirit of the Middle Path advocated by the Enlightened One . I merely wanted to make sure one doesn’t reinforce the syndrome of spending most of ones life gazing at ones own navel , as many of our world renouncing ascetics have done throughout history .
aha! what a thoughtful way to convey the importance of loving oneself and the world will be a beautiful place to live inn.
