Insomniac Mind

Mysterious and dark like an ocean,
Turbulent mind causing commotion,
Outwards it looks calm and serene,
Inside it boils and hatch up plots so mean.

Sheathed in scabbard of politeness,
It runs wild, infects life like a deadly virus,
In its vast, intricate corridors, so dark,
Countless wolves howl and bark.

Races so fast like Ussain’s 100 mtr dash,
With my heart it always ends up in a clash,
It causes many relations to go berserk,
Hiding in its every nook, the monsters lurk.

Insomniac mind works day and night shifts,
In that process our sanity began to drift,
It basks in ecstasy of absolute absurdity,
Claiming validity for its actions of stupidity.

The self-deprecatory edge to the poet’s reflections is sharpened by the frequent inversions and laboured rhymes , giving the poem a comic edge which comes as a package deal with it’s satirical tone .

Insomniac mind works day and night shifts,
In that process our sanity began to drift,…
Much food for thought this poem gives on the insomniac mind!
