‘I’m doing my perfect best, standing growing tall
Holding onto mammy’s dress,
So I’m safe and do not fall.
There’re giants everywhere I look
Wow, mammy, their heads are hiding the sun
Will it ever play again?’
‘Ahh, how pretty is your darling child
How old again is she?’
‘We are all pretty little girls
Mammy, look
My dress has sunshine sparkles in it.’
Down she falls
Gentle loving fingers, grasped tightly too
‘Now my toes are safely down
On this carpet warm.’
Fingers gently urging on
One step, two, three and four?
‘Look Mammy?
Quick!
I’m walking. I’m walking just like you!’
‘Catch me quick, with your soft sweet kiss?’
Confidence now in leaps and bounds
With every tiny little step.
Smiles, giggles, dancing twirls
As now caught the sunbeams morning rays
Decorate her dress.
