Hopes on sale
at flea market
they throng the alleys
with varicosed legs
and flailing arms
eyes bulging out of orbits
Hopes on sale
dirt cheap
jaded worn-out and used
The risk is all you risk
take it or leave it
grab the selling hopes
they might even take you
to the moon
miss the chance
and
you grope your way
through
in a dingy fleapit.

O my ! Hoping against hope that hope shall come through unhurt unfazed after such a harangued ordeal !
” Hopes on sale ” articulates a certain world-weariness that is itself a product of the contemporary circumstances it is witness to.
Thank you Louis for the most perfect comment on the poem!
I hope for the same too Lokesh Roy.
A commendable write as always.
