Black Forest

Time rests there
where the conifers stand tall
lined up, one against the other
their leafy heads touching,
sharing dark secrets of Time
a tete-a-tete beside the Rhine
The sun is afraid to peep in
shut out
lest it dissolves their secrets frozen
moist leaves, shed through time
lie damp and cold,
a carpet that none treads.

Time visits and revisits
every hour
across the waiting road
as the cuckoo pops out
and merry figures emerge
beaux beaus and beautiful belles
dance for a graceful minute
to melodious song and chirps.

Time flows down the Rhine
with rum
sailing on soft creamy cakes
we forget we had cares back home
capture the moment and time
spread out my palm
to collect the whispering showers
of shining snowflakes.
