Is the one you see in your reflection the real you?
Or someone you thought you’d left out in a dark avenue
A portrait of a soul with a desperate outcry
Chained in a past she longs to get by.
Have you stared at a countenance with sullen eyes?
Victim of cruelty of this discriminating world in disguise
She is a captive in a high tower way above the hill
While far below is a paradise yet bringing hurts and a certain chill.
Do I see in the mirror a shadow of a phantom I dare not be?
Or am I just haunted by my own nightmares, an eerie being I now see
Waiting for the time I can finally get out of this never ending dream
Unmask myself and metamorphose, enjoy the plight I am in!

A rewarding read.
Magical , mysterious with enough of a ” twist ” to elevate it above the mundane.,” A Phantom’s reflection ” final line .” unmask myself ..” has all the impact and frisson of the unexpected dip of a roller-coaster ride.
