    There is strong stench of death around this surreal poem with its macabre image of flies buzzing over rotting carrion which the narrator of the poem identifies as his own , intensified by the reference to darkness and the hoof of a Buffalo , which as per a particular mythology , is associated with Yama , the god of Death.
