If I travelled back in time

would I find no trace of you

dispelling the idea that you existed

your feet that walked that oppressed shore

(but now the oppressed have become oppressors!)

or find your windswept desert eyes

addressing someone, to help and heal

to give and give till you could give no more?

I wonder what pleasure such giving gives!

I wouldn’t want to talk much to you

Seeing you would be enough of  a challenge

Questions would fade and nothing matter

especially that one of who you are

or who I am

We both just are

I think, finally, that is what you gave me

the courage to just be myself

the freedom that God or the universe bestows

and to take on all that comes with it

To live one’s life and not fear anything

to fearlessly love till you can no more

those whom you want

and those who love you

and wait for the love to then explode

till it encompasses everyone

if it ever does

I do not need to travel back

You already taught me

All I need to do now

is just to live and fully love.
