Wild Wild West (Rebooted as Once Upon A Time in The West 31/10/2019)

TALL COOL HAT IN

THE LONG HOT SUN

Tumbleweed blowin’

saloon-doos flappin’

spurs..janglin’

TALL COOL HAT IN

THE LONG HOT SUN..

Five-pointed star gleamin’

townsfolk scurryin’

main street emptyin’

TALL COOL HAT IN

THE LONG HOT SUN..

Faces hatin’

voices cussin’

Smith & Wesson answerin’

TALL COOL HAT IN

THE LONG HOT SUN..

Bodies fallin’

women cryin’

for the Tall Cool Hat

face down in

that Long Hot Sun…

(One of my “later”performance pieces,circa autumn 1999)

That the grave, almost magisterial Louis Kastakin can afford to be, if he opts, to be, as breezy as summer breeze in an English dale gets confirmed by the above lines that are a fun to read and very light like the first welcome drizzle. Wild Wild West (WWW) parodies, to me at least, the big-ticket Western produced ad nauseam by the big-budget Hollywood in the last century—WWW takes light pot shots at the manufactured visual mythology of such a wild west where an individual vigilante, a gunslinger like Clint Eastwood, comes out to deliver instant justice in a corrupt and lawless town. Enjoyed this performance piece very much that evokes picturesquely the elements of such a Western narrative and makes us “see” the scene so clearly at a fast pace and rhythmic tone.
