How does love taste on bare lips
That poured but treacherous smiles
Upon the world?
The pungency of memories unscathed
And how they came to obscure its presence
For a long time.
I wouldn’t put my faith in their saltiness,
Yet, rather feel deeper, for the blood-
Its claret shade staining other pairs of lips
As they covered leagues of times in minutes,
While sipping life in famished kisses.
Still, to cement the small losses,
These two speak only of you
In acrid and candied words alike,
Blackened by their ache
For ink and summertime.
” Vanilla ” , expresses and examines deep-rooted and otherwise inexplicable existential conundrums.
A beautiful poem, very evocative.
