Today it rained in Paraguay,
And I was reminded of my home;
The red earth, turned a mottled gray,
Like a ploughed field,
On the Shannon shores
Of South Athlone.
Insects swarmed on opening flowers;
And the air consumed my dreams,
And for a moment-
Just for that brief moment,
I was harnessed up to plough and team.
