To my daughters on Daughter’s Day

I may not get you the sun and moon

or everything your hearts desire

but if I could, I would

and you know that full well, my deer

I wish you the strength to be in the world

but not worldly

fleet-footed like deer

to escape from its snares

when and whereit’s needed

yet brave enough to take it on

full throttle

life’s challenges

and come through victorious

Whatever happens, remember

there is one person

after the One above

who thinks you are the best

whatever the rest think

and always will be

whatever the test

whatever grades or marks you get

who will always only see

you are both A plus

& a hundred upon hundred.
