This journeying called life

In the face of impending death,

Truth with all its beautiful colors

Shines in the sky of life

Like a gorgeous rainbow

To captivate our imagination.

So short is this life

And yet, we strive tirelessly

To make it so long.

We are great connoisseurs of wines,

Of eclectic tastes, be it food or fashion,

Yet, we are so ignorant

About the transience of human life.

The insensitivity of man when it comes

To easing the misery of others

Is sprouting like mushrooms.

Our complacency, our inability to learn

From the benefits of failure,

Our attachment to fun and frolic,

The pride that we take

In glitz and glamour,

Are weakening our much desired efforts

In making love and peace as waterfronts.

There is an expiry date

For leading such a trend of life.

What a pathetic situation!

When will we realize that

The greatest drunkenness is found in peace

And the greatest peace is found in love.

Appreciate this journeying called life.

Learn to live and to love,

Learn to love and to live.

A truly exquisite poem in which the poet underscores man’s insensitivity to others, lost as he is in the material world. He forgets the relevance of love and peace and ignores the Shakespearean dictum:”Sweet are the uses of adversity”. Pramila’s amazing consistency in maintaining a high standard in her poetic output is something to be admired.
