This Christmas

This Christmas, when the mist-drenched dawn

Will descend in steps glamorous and glowing,

The musical flow of voices sweet

In innumerable guises will fill the universe.

Scourging all authority, youth will rally

Down the streets with banners showing

That they uphold the dignity of the downtrodden.

With poetic force, the imagined world

Will be created where life and myth condense

To form a disconcerting picture

Of the human predicament today.

All sorrows will melt like snow,

An outcome of a multicultural commitment

Based on a single power—–

The power of love.

Poetry endowed with freshness,

Sensuality and rich inventiveness

Will provide a liberating image of man,

Who will emerge like the lotus plant,

Head held high without fear.

Freedom will be established………..

Freedom of living and thinking,

Freedom of walking and loving,

Freedom of writing and talking

And freedom of creating freedom.

Humanity will unfold its wings

To listen to the record-breaking musicians

And singers with vibrant voices

Who will sing about love and peace

While the storm of life abates.
