The winking heart

Lost in thoughts,
With or without cause,
I pay the heavy cost,
for its vagrant tendencies.
Loves to love and loves to be hated,
It goes on with its flights unabated.
Little joys it steals,
Big treasures of smile it distributes.
Whatever amount of pain or rejection, it gets,
Yet it continues its pursuits.
I want to get rid of it,
It’s now a nuisance to me.
It does not fear being thrown out,
It says to me with a wink,
“You won’t be able to forget me,
I have left my legacy.”
