We have lost connection with man,
We have lost connection with nature
And we have lost connection with ourselves.
We forgot our interconnectedness,
We forgot that we are the base of the pyramid
And we forgot the purpose of our existence.
We have brought into ego, materialism
And greed at the expense of depleting
Our resources and subsequently killing
That which keeps us alive.
Look at the myriad religions
And the cults sprouting like mushrooms
Affecting the endless ordeals of our lives,
Neither uplifting our morale
Nor orchestrating any change.
All roads may lead to Rome
But all religions are not leading to love.
The bones of slaves are still alive
And the blood of martyrs still warm.
They are crying for love, peace and justice.
And man is lost in heart-rending scenes.
Is religion the cause of our pain?
Is religion making us suffer?
Dividing us, tearing us apart,
Making our existence dull and dreary.
Let us forget all the religions
And adopt a new one, a fresh one
Pushing our minds beyond limits.
Let us sit down and write a new book on religion,
Which beautifully reflects the grandeur of man
Who knows not hatred, jealousy, hypocrisy and violence
And for ever swimming in the waters of love and peace.
