The Jesus poems – 2

Failed   god

that is why I love him

failure is my sister too

I know writing about him

won’t get me many hits

but I think of his metaphors

and remember a boy from the village

of Nazareth

speaking to simple people in simple images

of a mother hen longing to gather her chickens

under her wings

to shelter them from an approaching storm

and of mustard seeds and trees that grew from it

I strive for the same simplicity and from the soil nature

in my art

and know that if I get it

like Jesus and Buddha

Krishna and Rumi and Ghalib

and so many others….

my words too would ring with the light of great poetry
