The impenetrable.

I do not know why

of all the jasmine bushes seen

only the two in my childhood’s two front yards

the naadan and the kudamulla

remain in my memory, bittersweet.

I do not know why,  of all those faces I’ve seen

only yours,  the two times I saw you, remains to make my heart
