The First Tear Drop

The first tear drop

that fell in Paradise

Was it Adam’s when he

cried out in pain as God

took a part of his rib to

create Eve?

Or was it Eve’s in the

shock of the first

gasp of air that

made her alive?

Was it one of joy

when the first couple

discovered each other?

Or was it one of fear on

seeing the snake, Satan?

Was it Satan’s in the joy

of having made Eve

give in to temptation?

Or was it Eve’s, in the

undeniable pleasure of the first bite

of the apple

Was it Adam’s when he

realised he had sinned?

Or was it Eve’s as she

tried in vain to cover

her womanness?

Perhaps it was God’s

on realising

the folly in

giving his creation

the option

of choice!

The first tear drop

that fell in Paradise.

About Elizabeth Kuriakose

A hectic career as a banker and looking after family kept me busy for ages. Quit my job to look after family. Once the children were old enough to take care of themselves, I discovered my love for writing in late 2014. Words in poetry or prose have been my constant companion thence on.
