The Bridge On The River Aire:Continuum

Stasis
static,
our moments
aspic’d motionless,
poised
at a point
at a crossing
that once was,
left covered
circumscribed,
gaoled in ambered time,
the now the is,
becoming chrysalised
as,not yet not far;
tactiled anticipation
of becoming
opening, apotheosis
bright gleaming
sun showered,
mirrored strand
of continuity
from the now
yesterday’s tomorrow,
annalled,palimpsest
concretized as bridge
as footfalls
over possibility,
over spectred images
of the coal barged
smoketowered pipebelched,
fundament of our
own production,
reproduction,thesis
antithesis,synthesis
appropriation
appropriated,
like this space
this time,
now,
this forever
becoming became
real.

    Hi Louis,
Nice. Is this still the “new” footbridge at Castleford?
Eric Bloodaxe sat at the ford just downstream from it, waiting for a battle.
Fat lot of good it did him – I believe he gave up and went home to York only to find he’d been deposed. Bit before my time though so maybe I’ve got it a bit wrong.
    Regards – H
