Temptation

eyes meet

yours questioning

mine confused

I look away

should I

should I not

the decision was mine

Satan with the apple

poor Eve

never could resist

I close my eyes

Lord

lead me not into temptation

walk away my mind whispers

leaden feet and

a greedy heart

turn deaf

I steal a look again

unashamedly

unabashedly

unmoving

you look back

oozing butter

melted cheese

come take me

you seemed to say

submit to your desires

transient is happiness

grab it

weak mind takes over

weakening spirit

animal noises echo

maniacally I rush forward

distances disappear

hand outstretched

mouth open

I latch on to

the biggest slice of

Pizza.

About Elizabeth Kuriakose

A hectic career as a banker and looking after family kept me busy for ages. Quit my job to look after family. Once the children were old enough to take care of themselves, I discovered my love for writing in late 2014. Words in poetry or prose have been my constant companion thence on.

Ha! Ha ! A poem filled with suspense and tension with the famous Kuriakose twist( O’ Henry, are you listening?) at the end.Brilliant.Loved it.

You steal the show big way with the unexpected climax. Loved it ! Specially the humour was the additional dose of mozarella cheeze on it.. A five star for it Elizabeth.. 😀
