Electing Jeremy

Hope comes in small packages

delivered either very early in the

morning or very late at night ,

so that it’s only during daytime

that we actually get to see

just what was delivered whilst we were asleep ;

With the sun streaming down

our eyes begin to open ,

we look and we stare

and we wonder where

hope has been delivered ;

then it dawns on us ,

it’s right in front of us ,

in a small unassuming package.

Scotland Won

Northward the train speeds

hearthward bound to Kith and Kin ,

to calmer climes ,bolder climes ,

surer days , surer airs ,

wrapped in their firmness of a

promise made long long ago

before the Stuarts failed and hearts waned ;

Vision now restored ,expectations unsheathed

not by heroes nor by warriors

nor stentorian oaths ,

but by quiet confidence woven

of steadfast certainty that when

all seemed lost forever mired

in betrayal and compromise ,

there would again come such a day ,

as this

here and now

and

forever.

Requiem for a Tyrant

Sat at the head of the table
you waged war on yourself with every breath ,
it seemed like it was all for nothing
for those towns you had put to death ;
While others broke down their walls
you raised walls even higher ,
all your words about freedom
were words spoken by a liar ;
You were some kind of world leader pretend
who left the rest of us with
nothing worthwhile to defend ;
You were given power to do as you saw fit ,
and you saw to the closures of factory,mill and pit ;
In your aftermath every now and then ,
we will look up your epitaph written
in Romans chapter three verse ten.

( Footnote gleaned from KJV :-10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: )
