Stillness

Under the still sky

the clouds stand still

the air too is still

and still some stand

waiting for a signal

a permission to move again,

but none is forthcoming

and so all stand still

under the still sky

where nothing moves

the clouds stand still

over a world

that lies

so very still.

This kind of stillness is suffocating and your poem evokes it successfully! Brevity and meaning at its best!

An interesting poem bringing out some of the many senses in which the word “ still “ can be used in the English language , this does evoke the sense of paralysis and suffocation brought on by the Covid 19 related lockdown
