Set Things Straight

Let’s set the record straight
Are we really separating church and state?
Do a little research
Most people vote inside a church.

When something happens to a school
They send the kids to church and that’s cool
It’s good to have a place they can go
So they can still learn and grow.

Politicians tell you what you want to hear
Then they want you to stand up and cheer
It really doesn’t mean a thing
It’s just a shameful little game.

It’s a game of tit for tat
You give me this, I’ll give you that
They play it every day the same way
But in this game you have no say.

They think we’re stupid and cannot see
The things they do with such glee
Passing laws that mean not a thing
It’s the money they cheat for to which they cling.

They don’t care how you live or how much you earn
To them that’s not really a big concern.
If I got a dime for each time they told a lie
I would have money enough to reach the sky.

It’s not the money they are paid
But what money on the side they’ve made
It’s not that they need this job
But how else would they legally rob?

They want to take God out of everything
And to the money they want to cling
They don’t even try to hide it any more
God is the only one who will even that score.

It doesn’t matter who’s in office anymore
They are just as bad as the one before.
No one works for the common good
They don’t do what they know they should.

Politicians act like God doesn’t exist
Apparently He is not first on their list
Be careful who you vote for
Until you know what they have in store.

Do your research don’t take their word
Don’t vote for someone on just what you’ve heard
Pray to God to give you knowledge
And He will help you sort through the garbage.

About Jan P

I was born and raised and still live in the great state of Oklahoma in the U.S.A. I live in Oklahoma City and have lived her for over 40 years. Came from a small town in eastern Oklahoma. I was raised on a farm as my daddy was a sharecropper. I worked for the Department of Defense for over 30 years. I am now retired and trying to catch up on all the things I didn't get to do when I worked. I have written poetry for many years, but only recently started writing more since I have found a place where others can enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

Thanks, I just thought it was something that needed to be said close to our election time. People need to pray and give some thought to what is going on in the world today.

Thank you. I always look forward to your comments. In this case it is getting close to elections and maybe I caused at least a few to think about what they are doing.
