Senses Inwards

Why aren’t my eyes made inwards

to see the glory of Lord indwelling

the love in its eternal abode

Outside they see only pain invading!

Why aren’t my ears turned inwards

to hear the music that plays eternal

from the flute of Lord enchanting

Outside they hear only cries shrieking!

Why isn’t my mind turned inwards

to perceive the brilliance of soul

the peace pervading in silence

Outside it keeps playing truant!

Why isn’t my voice turned inwards

to shut incessant chatter futile

to attain golden silence I covet

Outside it falls on heedless ears!

Why aren’t we made outwards inside

to concentrate, be more efficacious

to create new world of peace and love

Today that’s our principal need outside!
