Remote

How long can we hold on to the remote
Like a lifeline, thrown
To help us keep afloat

In a sea of channels
Where visuals of breaking waves are replaced
By breaking news and a splash of scandals

Between the first touch and the pause
Before the closing credits roll toward the shore
Of names, all neatly arranged like our flaws?
