Promises

A sweet heartening promise really enlivens,

Cheering up a loner, sweetness abounds,

But when we are for a ride driven,

Something inside is broken,

Physical pleasure relaxes,

It can wane and the morale of the betrayed, taxes.

.

Most relationships spring up with declarations of loyalty,

But sooner or later become musty.

Indeed, many are those who are simply temporarily loyal,

Once needs are met, they display fangs of betrayal.

The poor betrayed heart,

Hoping against hope, expects the soothing of the hurt.

.

Reading pacifies, music can drive distances,

But can remind about the grievances,

Followed soon by sprouts of the next stab of doubt,

Felt in the heart, in the soul, in and out.

Certainly, he/she who inflicts this pain,

Gloats on the gain.

 .

Lucky is the person who finds loyalty.

Certainly then, appreciation should be shown sincerely,

Otherwise, loyalty will fly

Like dust high up in the sky.

Crumbling the joie de vivre completely,

Devastating peace of mind entirely.
