We hear
The seagulls’ breathless cries above the shore–
We inhale
The giddy scent of the sacred sea–
Face to face
We feel the grace of this unexpected embrace–
And then at night
When our shadows fall asleep
And eyes are lost
In eyes before they are found
We unknot
Old promises,within and without–
We forget
The several tongues we know but one–
Our voices
Sounding strange even to our ears:
We cease
To look for sense in sentences.
Very true. The poem is an excellent treatise on self growth from an intellectual to a spiritual existence.
