My Partner

This path we have taken
it is narrow, untraveled
and winding
and lonely.
It stretches unendingly
and twists and turns,
rises steeply,
falls sharply,
and we move on.

We move on together,
you beside me
holding my hand
steadying me
when I stumble.
Holding me,
protecting me,
sensing my need
for you.

Your arms
around me
we move on
through darkness.
Through light.

My partner
in lives that have
gone by
And in this life too
All I wish
To say is
I love you.
