her name reminds me of goshens land
and the pharaohs daughter
her loving care and concern takes me down historys lane
and in my minds eye i see a baby floating on the limpid waters

and to my utter astonishment i see the baby
turn into a man and in a voice of thunder
challenge rameses and say
let my people go

with her brother aaron i watch the motley crowd
wander in the wilderness for forty long years
bitten by snakes
turned leprous white
dying of thirst

but soon i taste the waters of marah and they are sweet
i look at my leprous hand and i am healed
i gaze at the golden serpent and i live
and finally look beyond pisgahs height and behold the promised land
