Metamorphosis

METAMORPHOSIS

There is nothing at all that I would like to metamorphosise into
Nothing at all
Be kind to me , O Universe !
When I end let me end
Once for all
Do not transform me
It is form that I want to destroy
Let me be one with you
Except that I do not want to be at all
Nor do I want to be you
Freedom – Liberation
From me-ness or you-ness
No one to pray
No one to pray to

Am I a rock that I should be metamorphic ?
I am a sentient being
I must rise
Not into further being
But into nothingness

Not the chaos
Before creation
But pristine non-being
Is my prayer
My deepest desire

I stand by the sea under an open sky
And pray thus
The ever-changing waves and clouds
The ever – varying hues of sea and sky
Mock at my naïve ardour

An exposition of the existential crafted with the author’s imimitable poetic acumen where the line, “When I end let me end”, is the cri-de-coeur that defines this work.
