I hadn’t the foggiest notion
Where to go,
Just sat there in the car
Aimlessly staring up at the stars
Navigationally ignorant
Of the North.
Turned the key;
Headlights against the dusk,
Then drove away,
Swinging right
The first small ‘step’ direction
From the house.
I remember thinking,
How easy it is
For to take the courage,
From this storm
To change one’s life.
And move in one direction
On my own.

A brilliant ,introspective poem.As usual, apt imagery!
Thank you Vijay…I have been behind that wheel, many times
i found this to be an engaging and evocative poem.It brought to mind the work of my friend, the American singer/songwriter Willy Vlautin.
Thank you Louis, I have just been reading up on your friend…interesting life…but then don’t we all. Thank you for your kind comment.
Lovely philosophy
Sunila thank you.
I hold nothing against the poem except ,of course the word ” Navigationally” .
When the occasion demands, it is necessary to create ‘words’ to go with words
