It’s not easy being unknown

It is not easy to be unknown,
people notice so many things.
to be obscure, away from the lime light,
is what I always seek.
make me feel anxious and phobic.
I prefer being by the murky waters
than the glowering arc lights.
lower my trembling yet husky voice,
I hide behind the stage curtains
I dress ordinary not to be noticeable
I make myself look simple Jane.
but these efforts still go in vain.
fashions change and being simple
becomes the in fashion scene.
I was liking being portly
whom no one would pay attention too
but someone made voluminous
becoming voluptuous and admirable.
I was dusky and dark, the one ignored
but models turned dusky into misty beauties.
now I look forward to being known and famous
with a hope that in search of the common
people will ignore the famous and known
and I will be able to be indistinct again.

The poem pithily and with strokes of ironic humour highlights the absurdities and examines the paradoxes of contemporary celebrity culture.
